Logistics
A sector linked with the region's geographic location
Being located both on the Northern Europe, Paris/Barcelona route and the Central Europe, Geneva/Lyon/Bordeaux/Madrid route, Auvergne represents a genuine European exchange platform. It has multimodal communication infrastructures with 1,500 km of railway lines capable of transporting 8 million tonnes of goods per year including for Danone and Total Final Elf.
The Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne international airport offers twenty or so daily connections to the major French towns and European capitals. It can handle 2.5 million passengers per year and has a simultaneous capacity of twenty aircraft.
Auvergne offers a wide range of logistics services in terms of transport, storage, packing and packaging, transit, chartering, etc. It also provides the operators in the sector with efficient logistics estates across the four départements. With numerous plots of land and premises available along with logistics warehouses at costs below the national average, the region can ensure an attractive backdrop for development in the logistics sector.
Finally, special training, from vocational qualifications to the equivalent of A-levels plus 6 years of additional studies means the requirements of businesses in qualified personnel can be met.
